Pennies From Heaven

Penny tiles add glamorous shimmer to a kitchen with a reclaimed-rustic vibe. "The black limba floating shelves are fitted with recessed LED lighting that highlights the penny tiles and makes them shine," says Patrick Kennedy of Superior Woodcraft.

Go Retro

A red refrigerator and vintage canisters pop against this retro kitchen's otherwise monochromatic color scheme. Black wood shelving lines the space and the stainless steel sink, while metal geometric wall panels serve as a backsplash.

Keep It Fresh

This kitchen was completely renovated from head to toe, turning the original 1930s space into this sleek and chic cook area. Modern white cabinets provide ample floor-to-ceiling storage, and the metal tile backsplash makes for easy clean up while feeling fresh and unique.

Mixed Metals

Mixed metals, mirrored accents and the mother-of-pearl insets on the backsplash provide jewel like surprises throughout the kitchen.

Iridescence

The shimmer provided by this metallic backsplash adds color this contemporary kitchen. The clean lines of the space are complimented by the black stone countertops and warm wood cabinetry.

Wow With Copper

In a sleek, contemporary kitchen, texture can be the best way to add dramatic interest. In this space, designer Laure Antonetti Schutze of L. Antonetti Design chose a rich metallic basket weave for the area behind the cooktop. "Our client wanted a kitchen backsplash with a 'wow' factor," she says. "We used a woven copper that's not only beautiful but a conversation piece for the space." Over time copper will naturally develop a rich patina; to maintain the original shine, apply sealant, as the designers did in this project.

Flashy

This sleek and modern kitchen has frosted glass cabinet doors, white marble countertops and marble tile floors. The metallic backsplash and stainless steel range hood add a glint to the neutral design.

Bling Bar

A dark wood wet bar in the master bedroom is compact and adds stylish convenience. The metallic backsplash tiles add sheen and chunky shelves provide space for accessories and keepsakes.

Shine in Stainless Steel

Gleaming stainless steel is used for the countertop and backsplash, creating a metallic contrast against the dark gray cabinets. Professional-grade appliances, an easy-to-access pot rack and industrial washing area combine for the ultimate chef's kitchen.

Funky Pebbles

This modern kitchen boasts a simple design with metal appliances and gray backsplash.

Just a Touch

Sleek lines and contemporary updates work with a neutral palette, a tile backsplash and chic accessories to create an updated farmhouse feel in this classic kitchen. Conical metal pendant lights liven the space while providing extra light above the attractive kitchen island.
